Animal Science Popularization in Xianju National Park - Elliot’s Pheasant

      白颈长尾雉是国家一级保护动物，属于鸡形目雉科，是中国特产鸟类，主要栖息于海拔1000米以下的低山丘陵地区的阔叶林、混交林和林缘灌丛地带，虹膜褐色至浅栗色，嘴黄色，脚蓝灰色。列入《世界自然保护联盟》（IUCN） 2016年濒危物种红色名录。白颈长尾雉为杂食性，主要以植物叶、茎、芽、花、果实、种子和农作物为食，也吃昆虫等动物性食物。

      The Elliot’s Pheasant is a national first-class protected animal, belonging to the family Phasianidae in the order Galliformes. It is a unique bird species in China, mainly inhabiting broad-leaved forests, mixed forests, and forest edge shrubs in low mountain and hilly areas below an altitude of 1000 meters. Its iris is brown to light chestnut, its beak is yellow, and its feet are blue gray. Listed on the 2016 IUCN Red List of Endangered Species. The Elliot’s Pheasant is omnivorous and mainly feeds on plant leaves, stems, buds, flowers, fruits, seeds, and crops. It also eats animal foods such as insects.
